Cash for Air Ambulance
The world's biggest bike rumbled into Hebden Bridge last Sunday on a bumper day of barbecues and bouncy castles which raised more than £300 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The enormous 24 seater cycle was the star attraction of the afternoon as it was wheeled around the central streets by local children and their parents.
Intrepid cyclists from the sponsored ride, which began in Halifax and visited several pubs along the route, crossed the finish line at Marshall's bar, who have raised record amounts for the Air Ambulance over the past three years.
They were greeted by the Deputy Mayor of Hebden Royd Town Council Elizabeth Ward and her consort Harry Ward, while the Air Ambulance mascot bear was on hand to give out the occasional big bear hug.
Deputy Mayor Elizabeth Ward said: "It gives me great pleasure to be involved in such an essential charity as the Air Ambulance, and one which my husband Harry has also been actively involved in over the past years in a fundraising and supporting capacity."
"Bearing in mind the amounts that have been raised by the pub over the past three years, it is clear this is a cause which many people in Hebden Bridge feel is not only worthwhile, but is vital in our particular area."
Face painting and kareoke also kept visitors entertained on a day which raised around £300 for the charity. The amount will be added to a grand total, set to be announced after an auction in September.
John Taylor, Manager of Marshall's Bar, said: "We are extremely grateful for the suport from local customers and other members of the public in helping raise money for this worthwhile cause."
"I would especially like to thank John from the Co-op and Bill from Silly Billy's for their donations of bread and face paints to complement the money raised during the afternoon."
